Trend Micro's 2017 security predictions identify major risks emerging from 2016 and forecast trends for 2017: ransomware will stabilize in volume but diversify in methods and targets (including mobile and IIoT), IoT/IIoT devices will be leveraged for large-scale DDoS and targeted attacks, Business Email Compromise (BEC) and deeper Business Process Compromise (BPC) will drive large financial losses, Adobe and Apple will see rising vulnerability discoveries, cyberpropaganda will grow, and GDPR compliance will raise administrative costs; the report recommends multilayered defenses (machine learning, sandboxing, IPS, vulnerability shielding, application control) and stronger policies and training.
